What you should know?
rules
Under Federal Traffic Law No.21 of 1995, as amended, E-Scooters are considered to be in the same category as motorcycles (a “motorcycle” is defined as a vehicle of two wheels or more and equipped with a mechanical engine, and is intended to transport persons or things). As per the UAE law, E-scooters are categorised as motorcycles and hence not allowed on roads unless they are licensed. For now, in Abu Dhabi, they are testing market possibilities for this new-age mobility platform. There is no total ban on electric scooters in Dubai, but companies have been barred from renting them out, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has clarified. The purchase and operation of a privately-owned e-scooter are permitted in Dubai, however. This means you can own and use a scooter but can’t rent it from companies.
You must be 18 or older, you must wear a helmet, you must ride alone, and you must have a driver’s license. Wearing a helmet whenever riding a bicycle, scooter, rollerblades, or a skateboard should be an automatic habit.
